Our Visit to Iron Street Farm

The farm was once a trucking company.
One of two farm cats.
Murals add color to the outside of the former industrial space.

The farm makes tons of compost. Much of the material comes from local restaurants

Vegetables grow in medium made from compost spread over wood chips.

The view from inside the vermiculture area.
Testing the worms' work.
Yellow perch are raised in an aquarium from which the waste water then goes to the aquaponic plants on top.
Growing mushrooms in the dark.

Bees on  the roof.

The farm is right next to the Chicago River.
